Italian in 30 Minutes

Italian food is filling, flavorful and easy to make. Yep, it’s easy to make. When you go to an Italian restaurant, you may feel like you’re eating a dish beyond your own culinary skill, but the truth is, with a few shortcuts, you can make an Italian dish in less than 30 minutes.

Keep in mind, these steps won’t help you create an authentic Italian meal. But, this is a good way to throw together a fast meal that is more satisfying than Ramen or peanut butter and jelly. As a student, working toward your online degree, you may not have lots of time on your hands, but you can still put together a filling meal.

Step 1: Boil The Pasta

Grab some pasta and throw it into a pot of water over high. You can use any kind of pasta: spaghetti, rotini, penne, farfella, or anything else you find at your grocery store. Choose a pasta shape and boil it until it’s tender.

Step 2: Add Some Sauce

There are all kinds of delicious sauces available that are already pre made; all you have to do is heat it up. Whether you are in the mood for a tomato sauce or Alfredo sauce, all you’ll have to do is open a jar. Pour the sauce into a medium sized saucepan and turn the burner on to medium. Stir continually until the sauce is heated all the way through. Sauce can overheat quickly and burn easily, so be careful!

Step 3: Add The Sides

Both salad and garlic bread go well with pasta. Adding one or both to your meal is very easy. If you want some veggies, you can make a salad with your own ingredients, or you can buy a bagged salad.

To make garlic break, just butter a piece of break, sprinkle some garlic powder (and any other spices, like oregano), on top, and place the bread under the broiler in your oven. Keep a close watch on the bread and pull it out when it is just toasted and barely crisp.

With these few steps, you’ll have a yummy, hot Italian meal in less than half an hour. Next time you’re craving some pasta, skip the mac and cheese, and try this out!
